THE OLDEST PERSON IN THE WORLD is directed by Sam Green, and produced by Alison Byrne Fields and Josh Penn. Yoni Brook was the film’s Director of Photography.
SAM GREEN
Sam Green received his Master’s Degree in Journalism from UC Berkeley. His most recent projects include 32 SOUNDS (2022). A THOUSAND THOUGHTS (2018) in collaboration with the Kronos Quartet, THE MEASURE OF ALL THINGS (2014) — each of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival — and THE LOVE SONG OF R. BUCKMINSTER FULLER (2012), which premiered at the Museum of Modern Art as part of the San Francisco International Film Festival. These works are performed live, with Green narrating and musicians performing the soundtrack. Green’s 2004 feature-length film, the Academy Award-nominated documentary THE WEATHER UNDERGROUND, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, was broadcast on PBS and was included in the Whitney Biennial. Sam Green was included in the 2019 Whitney Biennial and was selected to be a 2018 Sundance Art of Nonfiction Fellow. In 2014, Sam was accepted as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
THE OLDEST PERSON IN THE WORLD is Alison Byrne Fields’ first film in the role of producer. She has served as an Impact Producer on Kimberly Reed’s award-winning DARK MONEY, which premiered at Sundance in 2018, on David France’s WELCOME TO CHECHNYA, which premiered at Sundance in 2020, on Robert Greene’s PROCESSION, which premiered at Telluride in 2021, and on Tia Lessin’s THE JANES, which premiered at Sundance in 2022. She was also the Executive Producer of the award-winning documentary short, CROWN CANDY. Alison is the Principal and Founder of Aggregate, a Seattle-based creative strategy group that works with philanthropic foundations, nonprofit organizations, authors, and filmmakers. Her clients have included some of the largest foundations in the country, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Pew Charitable Trusts, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and the David & Lucile Packard Foundation. Alison is also the former Creative Director and Chief Strategist for Rock the Vote, which aims to engage more young people in the political process. Alison received her BA in Media Studies from Hampshire College and her Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard University.
Josh Penn is a producer with the Department of Motion Pictures. He produced BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD (2012), which won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize, the Caméra d'Or at Cannes, and was nominated for four Academy Awards (including Best Picture). In addition, Josh was nominated for Outstanding Producer at the 2013 Producer's Guild Awards. He has also held producing roles on PATTI CAKE$ (Sundance 2017), WESTERN (Sundance 2015 Special Jury Prize Winner), THE GREAT INVISIBLE (SXSW 2014 Grand Jury Prize Winner,) and CONTEMPORARY COLOR among other films. Josh had two projects premiere at Sundance 2018: Reinaldo Marcus Green's debut feature MONSTERS AND MEN and Sam Green's live documentary A THOUSAND THOUGHTS. Additionally, Josh has been a leading member of the Court 13 collective for over a decade. In 2018, Josh was accepted as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Outside of his work in film, Josh was previously the Michigan New Media Director for President Obama's 2008 campaign and a Senior Digital Program Manager for the 2012 re-election campaign.
YONI BROOK
Yoni Brook is a Peabody Award winning filmmaker whose films have screened at Sundance, Berlinale, and the New York and Toronto Film Festivals. His work was nominated three times for Film Independent Spirit Awards for Best Nonfiction Series, Best First Feature, and Best Cinematography. Yoni co-created, co-directed and lensed the docuseries PHILLY D.A., called “the second coming of THE WIRE in docuseries form” by New York Magazine. The docuseries premiered at Sundance, was the first docuseries to screen at the Berlinale, and broadcast on PBS Independent Lens, Topic, and BBC Storyville. It won a Peabody Award, duPont-Columbia Award, Gotham Award, and was named one of the Best TV Series of the Year by the New York Times, New Yorker, Vogue, TIME, Variety, Indiewire, Hollywood Reporter, and The Washington Post. In addition to serving as Director of Photography for THE OLDEST PERSON IN THE WORLD, Yoni served as the DP for Sam Green’s 32 SOUNDS. Yoni is an alumnus of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, CPB/PBS Producers Academy at WGBH and Berlinale Talents. He has served as a visiting professor in the Department of Film and Media Studies at Swarthmore College.
